projectMap

Project Location

The project is located on Admiral Doyle Drive, with improvements beginning about two-thirds of a mile northwest of the intersection of Admiral Doyle and LA 3212 and ending at LA 88, which is northwest of New Iberia.

Project Description

This project involved the improvement of 5,310 feet of Admiral Doyle Road near the Acadiana Regional Airport in Iberia Parish from the intersection with LA-3212 to the end of the four lane section in order to improve access to both the airport and the Port of Iberia.

Issue Addressed

The existing 24-ft. wide roadway is in poor condition and there are two sharp curves along this route creating major hazards. These repairs and improvements will improve access and provide safer driving conditions along this route to mitigate the damages caused by heavy vehicle traffic usage of this road related to support of OCS exploration and production activities.

Project Goals

The project will overlay and realign Admiral Doyle Drive, as well as replace a portion of the existing grass median with concrete pavement, which provides access to Acadiana Regional Airport. Approximately 2-miles of roadway is proposed to be repaired.
